Primed surface treatment
To secure a surface perfect for the finishing paint work, the Klokkerholm own production goes through a 7 step surface treatment.
- Rawmaterial: Cold coiled steel st. 14.03 DIN 1623 tolerance: DIN 1541.
- Degreasing: Degreasing in acid combination product at 45° C. to secure a metallic clean and dustfree surface.
- Phosphating: Phosphating 0,6-1,0 g/M2 surface DIN 50942, Feph r a US Federal. TT-C-490 B, type 2.
- Flushing/passivating: 2-step cascade fl ushing. (max. 500 microsiemens/CM)
- Drying: In oven at 120° C.
- Painting: Computer assisted parts reading. Electrostatic spraying with water based hydrofiller (Alkyd-Melamin).
- Drying: Flash-off zone. 10 min. at 40° C.
- Hardening: Oven 20 min. by 145° C.
Galvanized repair parts
To keep up with the car manufacturers’ increasing use of galvanized steel we have decided to match this in Klokkerholm. We maintain the highest quality of finishing the embossing and the edges of the part. We have therefore chosen a plate type with the optimal combination of thickness of the zinc coating and formability of the plate. And the adhesion is excellent when painted.
The technical term is DX54D 140Z MB and is a high quality zinc coated plate. The zinc coating is lead-free and has a content of a minimum of 99% zinc. Our new galvanized parts have undergone thorough tests to ensure the weldability of the plate and the surface adhesion of primer and paint.

Damp head lamps
Once in a while customers complain about damp head lamps. This occurs especially at a high humidity or at high day/night temperature variations. This is a natural effect where humid air (which is entering through technical necessary head lamp ventilation) is collecting as condense water on the inside glass lens. This humidity evaporates after a short time again. If the head lamp is not damaged, there is no quality problem existent and the head lamp can be used without concerns.
